Performance

Asus K55VD ClosedThe Asus K55VD is equipped with 3rd generation Intel Core i processors featuring several advanced technologies such as  increased multithreading capabilities and support for various Intel technologies such as adaptable clock frequencies according to system load. The combination of a powerful processor, 4GB RAM and a discrete graphics card is more than adequate to handle daily computing tasks.

The multi-threading capability of the Intel Core iI processors allows the Asus K55VD to render satisfactory performance even when several applications are running simultaneously.  The keyboard fitted in the Asus K55VD is pleasant to type due to good spacing between keys. The dedicated numeric pad is convenient when using applications such as MS Excel or other accounting programs. Some users may complain that the touchpad that is not of premium quality. The sensitiveness   of the touchpad is more on the lower side, and it may take time for the user to get accustomed to the pressure sensitive regions in the touchpad. The buttons are a bit loose and clunky as well.

The NVIDIA graphics card fitted in the Asus K55VD is not a gaming chip.  Users will be able to play few gaming titles at low-to-medium settings. Most of the games released in 2012 cannot be played on Asus K55VD. The 15.6” glossy screen produces bright colors. However, the picture loses clarity at narrow vertical viewing angles. The branded speaker’s performance is average, and the sound quality delivered is decent.

Verdict

The configuration of Asus K55VD looks good, and the performance is also more than average as per budget laptop standards. Some drawbacks in Asus K55VD are its glossy 15.6” screen, and average performing graphics card. However, many users will not complain about these things looking at the price tag. The Asus K55VD is an ideal desktop replacement. The system components in Asus K55VD present users with adequate computing power for daily computing tasks, multimedia, and occasional gaming.
